How to Know If Your Current Tutor Is a Good Fit
June 1, 2026 · Talon Tutoring TeamLook for learning signals
A good tutor fit shows up in more than grades. The student can explain concepts more clearly, starts homework with less avoidance, asks better questions, and knows what to practice next.
You should also see a plan. Even if progress is gradual, the tutor should be able to explain what they are working on and why.
Address concerns early
If sessions feel repetitive, the student stays confused, communication is poor, or there is no evidence of progress, raise the concern directly. A strong tutor will adjust the plan or explain what needs more time.
Talon's progress tracking and parent dashboard summaries can make this conversation easier because everyone can look at the same signals. If the fit still does not improve, it may be time to switch.
