Teach on Talon: Getting Started with the Instructor Marketplace
June 12, 2026 · Talon Tutoring TeamTalon is built for learners and families first — but independent instructors can sell lectures on the same platform through the LaaS (Lecture as a Service) marketplace. Learners browse published lectures and purchase individually; you set the price and own the topic.
Getting started takes four milestones: create an instructor account, complete your marketplace profile, pass background check approval, then create and submit lectures for content review.
Step 1 — Create an instructor account
Use the dedicated instructor sign-up path rather than a learner account. You will land in the educator dashboard with access to Instructor Marketplace and Lectures (LaaS) tools after registration.
If you already have a staff educator account from a school deployment, you can use the same marketplace flows from the educator shell — the hub is under Instructor Marketplace in the navigation.
Step 2 — Profile and background check
Your instructor profile includes display name, bio, expertise areas, and qualifications. Learners use this to decide whether your lecture fits their gap — treat it like a storefront, not a resume appendix.
Submit your background check for admin review. Once approved, your account activates as a seller and you can attach your instructor ID to new lectures.
Step 3 — Create, price, and submit lectures
From Lectures (LaaS), create a draft with title, description, course container ID, price, video URL, and B2C marketplace flag. Submit for content review when you are ready — admin approval publishes the lecture for learners to find and purchase.
After publish, verify your lecture appears in the published B2C catalog and test the learner marketplace view. That is the same surface families use to buy individual lessons.
