A degree, certification, or test score can show subject knowledge, but it does not automatically prove teaching skill. Vet both: what the tutor knows and how well they can help this learner understand it.
Ask about the tutor's experience with the exact subject, level, curriculum, or exam. A strong calculus tutor may not be the right fit for elementary reading, and a great classroom teacher may still need to adapt to one-on-one tutoring.
